IHR · Legal
Last updated 16 October 2026. Effective from 16 October 2026.
Institute for Human Reasoning ("IHR", "we", "us") is a trade name of Nina Somkina, a sole proprietor registered in Ukraine. IHR is not a separate legal entity.
These Terms govern our digital products and the website humanreasoning.institute. They apply to purchases processed by Paddle, wherever you live, including Ukraine. Purchases made in hryvnia through plata by mono before 16 October 2026 remain governed by the Ukrainian public offer accepted at the time; its text is available on request. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights under the law of your country of residence.
We sell access to digital content, not any specific professional, financial, career or business outcome. Please read Section 6 (Refunds) and Section 11 (Limitation of Liability).
Site — humanreasoning.institute and its subdomains. Account — your personal account (email and password).
Digital Product — the playbook, a Course, the template pack or other digital content we supply. Materials — the content of a Digital Product.
Playbook — So They Lied to You (IHR Playbooks · 01): the English online edition, read in the Reader (the reading application on the Site), with the English template pack (seven working forms supplied as a file). It does not include the Ukrainian edition; customers who bought before 16 October 2026 keep both editions.
Course — an English-language product of pre-recorded video lessons, with supplementary materials where stated on its page.
Brain Workout — the interactive exercise “Can you spot when AI lies?” on the Site, and the personal results it produces.
Bundle — the playbook and a Course sold together at one price.
Digital Products are sold through Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle is the seller for the payment transaction and handles payment, tax, receipts, refunds and payment disputes under its Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. IHR creates and supplies the product and grants you the licence to use it.
3.1. The playbook is read online in a browser on the Site. There is no download of the book text, no PDF, no offline reading and no printing. The template pack, and any other material with a download button, downloads as a file and remains yours. You need an internet connection; access is tied to your Account and limited to two devices — one computer and one mobile.
3.2. Courses. All Course content opens immediately after purchase. A Course does not include one-to-one sessions, assignment review, feedback, live sessions or individual support unless its page says so. What is not listed on the sales page is not included.
3.3. The Brain Workout. Doing the workout is free and you can repeat it as often as you like. If you are signed in, each result you open is kept in your profile, where you can reopen it, download it as a file, or delete it. Your personal results — strengths, focus areas, a 7-day practice plan and prompts — are a Digital Product sold through Paddle; the price is shown before you pay. The workout is an educational exercise, not a psychological or professional assessment, and its result is feedback on your answers, not a judgement about you.
Before you pay, you tick a box (never pre-ticked) accepting these Terms and our Privacy Policy; we record the date, time and version you accepted. For Digital Products you also confirm that you want access to open immediately. You must be at least 18 to create an Account, take the Brain Workout or buy anything on the Site; by accepting these Terms you confirm that you are.
5.1. Price. Digital Product prices are shown in US dollars and exclude tax; Paddle adds sales tax, VAT or an equivalent charge based on your location and shows the total before you pay.
5.2. Access opens immediately after successful payment.
5.3. Playbook access has no time limit while the playbook is on the Site. If we discontinue it, we give at least 12 months' notice and send you a PDF edition; a PDF is not available otherwise.
5.4. Course access lasts two years from purchase unless the Course page states longer. Downloaded materials remain yours. A Course or Bundle marked “coming soon” is not sold until it opens; prices shown for it are planned prices.
5.5. Updates during your access period are free. A new edition or a separate product sold on its own is not included in an earlier purchase. We will not remove core features in a way that contradicts the product description at the time of purchase.
5.6. Availability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service; planned maintenance is announced. If access is unavailable through our fault for more than 24 hours, we restore it and extend your access period accordingly.
6.1. Problems with access — write to us. If something on our side does not open or load, write to ihr.institute@gmail.com from your purchase email. We reply within 5 business days and restore access. Once access has been provided, a later technical problem is resolved by restoring access, not by a refund; if the product was unavailable through our fault, we extend your access period (5.6).
6.2. Payments and refunds — contact Paddle. Paddle is the seller for the payment transaction, so all payment questions and refund requests for Digital Products go to Paddle at paddle.net or through the link in your receipt. A refund is supported where:
6.3. Change of mind. Access opens immediately after payment, and we do not support a refund solely because you changed your mind, did not have time, or the product did not meet a preference that was not part of its description. Any such request is decided by Paddle at its discretion under Paddle's Refund Policy, which forms part of your purchase.
When Paddle asks us about a request or a dispute, we provide the access record described in our Privacy Policy — which Reader pages you opened and when, and when you downloaded template files — for that purpose only.
6.4. Discretionary refunds. We may refund in other cases; this does not create an obligation to do so again.
6.5. Payment disputes. While a chargeback is pending we may suspend access, and terminate it if the payment is reversed. If a dispute is made in bad faith — for example, claiming fraud after receiving and using the product — we may decline future purchases. This does not limit your right to a legitimate dispute.
Nothing in this section limits mandatory rights under the law of your country of residence, remedies where a product materially differs from its description, or your rights under Paddle's Buyer Terms and Refund Policy.
7.1. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Digital Product for your own personal or professional purposes during the access period.
7.2. You may use it on your two devices; apply the methods and templates in your own work, including for clients; quote reasonable extracts with attribution to the title, the author and IHR; complete and print downloadable materials.
7.3. You may not share your login or access, or buy access jointly; resell, redistribute or republish the Materials; record or copy Course video; scrape the Materials; or use them to deliver your own courses or training without our written permission.
7.4. AI. You may use limited excerpts in a private AI conversation. You may not upload substantial portions to shared, public or organisational AI systems, custom assistants, knowledge bases, or training or evaluation datasets, except where such a restriction is prohibited by law.
7.5. All intellectual property in the Materials, the Site, the Reader and the IHR name and mark belongs to or is licensed to IHR, except third-party materials identified as such.
8.1. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity in your Account; tell us if someone else uses it. We never ask for your password or card details. One Account, one person, two devices; signing in on more ends earlier sessions.
8.2. You may not circumvent technical measures (Reader protection, device limit, paid access); scrape the Site or overload it; probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission; impersonate IHR, the author or another user; give false registration details; or use our services for fraud, threats, harassment, spam or knowingly false statements of fact about IHR.
8.3. Reviews. You may share honest reviews and criticism anywhere; we never penalise negative reviews. We publish testimonials only with separate written permission, do not pay for reviews, and disclose any incentive next to the testimonial.
We may restrict or end access for a material breach — distributing or reselling Materials, sharing access, circumventing protection, automated copying, fraud or interfering with the Site — normally after a warning where the breach can be fixed. To establish what happened we may rely on access logs, device and session records and correspondence. You may close your Account by writing to ihr.institute@gmail.com from your Account email; see our Privacy Policy for the consequences.
10.1. Materials are educational and are not legal, financial, medical, tax or other professional advice. Your decisions are your own.
10.2. We do not guarantee any specific outcome; examples of results are illustrative.
10.3. Cases are anonymised: some names, categories and figures are changed with proportions and conclusions preserved, and each change is marked.
10.4. We use AI tools for research, editing, layout, programming and visuals. Cases, experience and facts presented as real are real; the author determines the content, and IHR remains responsible for it.
10.5. We are not responsible for third-party sites and tools we link to, to the extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for a Digital Product is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits, revenue or data. These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited.
We do not sell to users in the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus or the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, or where a sale would breach sanctions, export controls or payment rules, and may refuse or cancel such transactions.
The Reader supports text scaling. If anything on the Site creates a barrier for you, write to ihr.institute@gmail.com; we reply within 5 business days and provide an alternative format where we can.
Please contact us first at ihr.institute@gmail.com; we reply within 5 business days. These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your state or country of residence. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally go to a court of competent jurisdiction. Payment-transaction disputes for Digital Products may also be subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms.
New versions are published on the Site with a new effective date and apply to purchases made after publication. For customers with active access, changes take effect 14 days after publication, do not retroactively reduce rights for completed purchases, and material changes are notified by email. The version you accepted is recorded and available on request.
